Egypt has a relatively well-diversified economy but very dependent on tourism, income from the Suez Canal, but also from foreign investment. In this context, the R + D + i still has a weak presence in the whole of the egyptian economy. However, from 2014 investment in research, development and innovation has gained importance and, since then, is part of the political agenda.
