European Fund industry, fisheries and Aquaculture (FEMPA)

The European Fund industry, fisheries and Aquaculture (FEMPA) is the eu fund that will be active between 2021 and 2027, with a view to supporting the common fisheries policy, eu maritime policy and the eu Agenda for international oceans governance.

The FEMPA includes four priorities:

  • Priority 1: promote sustainable fishing and the recovery and conservation of aquatic living resources.
  • Priority 2: promote sustainable aquaculture activities and the processing and marketing sustainable fisheries and aquaculture products that contribute to food security of the union.
  • Priority 3: make possible a blue economy sustainable island coastal areas, and of the interior and encourage the development of fishery and aquaculture communities.
  • Priority 4: reinforce international oceans governance and make it possible for the seas and oceans are safe, clean and managed in a sustainable manner.

The eu countries are those who set in their national programmes for the FEMPA the most appropriate means for achieving the targets set under the four priorities.

The FEMPA has a budget of 6.108 million euros. As a general rule, the maximum cofinancing rate of FEMPA is 70 per cent of eligible expenditure.

  • Regulation (EU) 2021/1139the european parliament and council of 7 july 2021 establishing the European Fund industry, fisheries and Aquaculture (DOUE 13 july 2021).
  • Regulation (EU) 2021/1060the european parliament and council of 24 june 2021 by establishing the common provisions relating to the european Regional development fund, the european Social fund Plus, the cohesion fund, to Just Transition and the European Fund industry, fisheries and aquaculture, as well as the financial rules for such funds and to the merits of asylum, migration and integration, the fund and the instrument of financial support to border management and the visa policy (DOUE 30 june 2021).

Beneficiaries

According to item 2 of the rules of procedure FEMPA apply the definition of operator of ""Regulation 1380/2013(item 4) that have already used in the FEMP 2014-2020:

"" operator, the physical or legal person who operates or has a company dedicated to an activity linked to any of the phases of the chains of production, processing, marketing, distribution and retail sales of fisheries and aquaculture.

Fraud and irregularities in the management of co-financed projects with european funds

Communication from the FEMPA

The entities, in his capacity as beneficiaries of aid in the CDTI with co-financing from FEMPA, acquired a series of obligations in the field of information and communication which are derived from the normative framework of european funds and which must be aware of CDTI in justification of the project co-financed.
