The Catalogue 2024 the CDTI drives Innovation technological capabilities in the area of industry of science

  • The edition of the online catalogue 2024 compiles the references to the most relevant spanish companies in great science
  • In the past 15 years, the spanish industry has returned more than 1.9 million euros from the major international Science Facilities

España is one of the leading european actors in industrial activity concerning particle physics, astronomy and merge

TheCDTI Innovationjust issued 2024 of editingCatalogue of Spanish Industrial Capacities for large Science Facilitiesthat, after three editions (2017, 2020 and 2022), extends until100the portfolio ofspanish companiesthatprovide cutting-edge technologiessued by the scientific infrastructure in national and international areasparticle physics, astronomy and merge. It comes to technologies that require a high degree of specialization such as precision mechanics, manufacture of advanced materials, radio systems, magnets, criogenia and empty or information and communications. More than 60% of companies that reflected the catalogue are Smes.

The catalogue 2024, available in english and spanish, contains powerful search tools that allow to filter by areas of work (particle physics, astronomy and fusion), technological field agency, (CERN, ITER, therefore, SKAO ESRF, ESA, etc.), keyword or even locate companies with a particular certification. Thus, this catalogue is a powerful tool of visibility and positioning of our businesses on the Big Science sector and exceeds benefits to other repositories developed in other countries.

España still relies on the Great Science the CDTI and Innovation, in its role as a public agency promoter and pivot of technological innovation and industrial property, maintains an intense in the internationalization of spanish companies and their potential. In the recent edition 2024 ofBig Science Business Forumheld in Trieste, the main european event brings together all actors in the industry of science, España has been the second country in the volume of delegates and suppliers only after the host country (Italy).

Novedades

Other developments of the catalogue is that any company that want to be included in the same may apply for a user through its private and send your request at any time. For that a company can choose to be included in the catalogue, must be located and have one centre in Spain and, in addition, having participated in a contract (as prime contractor or subcontractor) for any scientific infrastructure of particle physics, astronomy and merger or having participated in an r & D train you directly to work with such infrastructures.

For each company, includes a general description and previous contracts obtained from research infrastructures and r + D behind such capabilities. Also included three matrices organized by technology capacities in the areas of particle physics, astronomy and merger.

In addition to the dossier, the catalogue published two additional sections: the first meeting the main national research infrastructures in the areas of particle physics, astronomy and fusion, most of them registered in theMapa de Instalaciones científicas y Técnicas Singulares(ICTS) ofMinistry of science, innovation and universities. The second section, currently under construction, incorporates the activities of the tens of research groups and institutes with capabilities in the science that have great potential of partnerships with business.

For the preparation of CDTI, Innovation hasINDUCIENCIA, the technological platform of Industry of science.

The industry of science in spain

The industrial sector of science in Spain includes the companies working for the organizations involved in the conception, design, construction, operation and maintenance of facilities and scientific instruments in any field to contribute to the advancement of science and technology and the strengthening of technological innovation.

This is, in some cases, greatly projects ambitious as is the first prototype of energy generation magnetic confinement (ITER), currently under construction in the south of france, the particle acceleratorIFMIF-DONESin Granada, or the first of the so-called extremely large optical telescopes (Extremely Large Telescope,Observatorio Europeo Austral), also under construction in Chile.

The science is an area of very high added value in the developing cutting-edge technologies that are often then transferred to other market segments. But, moreover, only by itself constitutes an important market for spanish companies: during the past 15 years the spanish industry has returned more thaneur 1.9 billionlarge international Science Facilities of physics, astronomy and merger owned by the ministry of Science, innovation and universities, as shown in figure:

The CDTI innovation as tractor industry of science to the new challenges

At present, the market of the science is open to new challenges. One of them is the consolidation, in which the race towards future fusion reactors continues to the global level with the emergence of many start-ups and merge multiple initiatives sponsored by the great interest of private investment, which have apalancado over6 billion in this energy. The european industry, and in particular the spanish constitution, currently second in the ranking of recruitment, holds a leading position in the development and construction of future fusion reactors, motivated in part by its commitment to assume the 45 per cent of the construction of the ITER project.

Another area of future with enormous possibilities are future colisionadores of particles. CERN is currently developing the feasibility study of the futureFCC (Future Circular Collider)a particle accelerator 90.7 underground Kms long that will revolutionize the science of particle physics to bring energies of collision of 100 Vte, almost ten times the current number. The FCC will require a huge leap in criogenia imams and empty or detectors, among others, in which the CDTI Innovation is working to train our businesses.

The activities of CDTI innovation in the field of research infrastructure have two main objectives:

  1. Improve the technological training of spanish companies in the sector of industry of sciencein short, medium and long term. To this end, the CDTI Innovation supports r & D & I projects with potential future recruitment, especially for large international Scientific contribution, infrastructureMapa ESFRI (Forum strategic European research infrastructure)and facilitiesPair of ICTS.
  2. Optimize returns of the major technological Scientific Facilitiesthe international arena in which España contributes as a member country. So the CDTI Innovation promotes industrial capacities in the scientific infrastructure and national and international also provides information to the spanish industry about the business opportunities. To that end, this agency participates in Organs of government in several Grandes Instalaciones Científicas and as a focal point with industry (ILO).

CDTI Innovation

The CDTI innovation is the public funding of innovation of the ministry of science, innovation and universities that promotes innovation and technological development of spanish companies, channeling requests for funding and support for r & D & I projects of spanish entities at the state and international levels. We Contribute to the improvement of the technological level of spanish companies and drive and, with an international network with coverage of 51 countries support the spanish participation in international programmes for technology cooperation and the international transfer of technology. The CDTI also supports the creation and consolidation of technology-based enterprises in Spain.
