The CDTI Innovation continues to further women's participation in the technology and innovation.

The CDTI favours through instruments such as Neotec, Cervera or Innvierte women to increase their level of presence and contribution to innovation in terms of equality.

The participation of women continues to move forward and grow in the area of technology and innovation based on knowledge.

The programmes and instruments of CDTI gambling for Innovation to reduce the gender gap in the field of entrepreneurship from the benefits of harnessing the talents of qualified women, tecnólogas, experts in different disciplines or directives which contribute to enriching the decision-making in business and development of innovative projects.

The recent historical data show that the percentage of women participating in projects funded by the CDTI has grown markedly, from 22.7 per cent in 2018 to 27.8% in 2023. The qualifications of the women involved in these projects is very high and even more as the level of qualification. Thus, in 2023 the participation of women was 38.3 per cent among participants with doctorate; from 28.2 per cent among participants with university degrees, and 20.8 per cent among participants with other degrees or without them.

Traditionally, women's participation in projects of CDTI innovation has been greatest in large companies in smes. The difference in favour of the great enterprise increased 5.9 points between 2014 and 2018, and in 2023, the presence of women in projects of large companies was 29.0 per cent, compared to 26.3 per cent in smes.

By sector, in 2023 women's participation in projects pharmacists was 66.1 per cent; 56.9 per cent in projects of biotechnology and 49.1 per cent in health-related projects.

Moreover, the presence of women is greater on typologies of projects related to business venture: 40.1 per cent in Seal of excellence and 34.8 per cent in grants Neotec. It is also very high in most close to the investigation as assistance to Cervera Technological Centres (35.8 per cent). These are followed, although some distance, large cooperative projects of a strategic nature as A HUNDRED (29.1 per cent) and missions (27.3 per cent), to name just two examples.

Also emphasizes the role of leadership within technological entrepreneurship projects. Out of 131 projects approved in Neotec 2023, 26.7 per cent (35) were headed by women.
More than one third of employment generated in the development of projects approved by the CDTI Innovation is female, which poses a growing trend of 27.2 per cent of 2014 to 37.8 per cent of 2022. The most dynamic in the area of employment creation for women are Pharmacy (40 per cent), biotechnology (36 per cent) and ict (33 per cent).

Neotec programme Women Entrepreneurs

In 2002, the CDTI Innovation launched a specific call (Neotec Women Entrepreneurs), with 5 billion in subsidies, with the aim of launching new business projects of innovative enterprises headed by women that require the use of technologies and knowledge developed since the research activity and where the business strategy is based on technology development.

Since its inception, Neotec Women Entrepreneurs has enjoyed wide acceptance. When first soliciting the 2022, there were 65 projects led by women who asked for more than eur 15 million, three times the strength of the programme. This fact illustrates the great traction of women in business projects technological entrepreneurship. 65 designs requested, the strength of the call made it possible to adopt 20 projects, with a budget of eur 7.4 million under the Areas Of Ict, biotechnology, health, industry, transport, infrastructure, security or defence.

To continue their support for the technological entrepreneurship among women, the convening Neotec 2023 established a budgetary reserve of eur 5 million to specifically to business projects based on technologies developed from r & D own headed by women. The results of the convening, demonstrated again the importance and quality of entrepreneurship among women: technological of 131 projects approved in Neotec 2023, 26.7 per cent (35) were headed by women and received a grant of eur 11 million, doubling the amount of excess initially planned for this kind of projects.

In general, social impact assessment of the programme Neotec on the situation of women in the area of technological entrepreneurship notes that 13 per cent of entrepreneurs in science and technology are women and constitute, on average, 25 per cent of the members of the teams. Women owned 16% of companies supported by Neotec. On the other hand, 50% of companies Neoetc declares that incorporated the gender perspective in the development of their technologies, which indicates progress towards the integration of a very necessary in the strategies of such enterprises.

Innvierte -Fondo of funds

The programme of social capital affects Innvierte-Fondo funds in risk-based enterprises investing in companies tecnológica- formed by 65 per cent for men and 35 per cent by women, especially the presence of women in scientific areas and less in engineering and other areas such as Ict. Most companies shows their interest in moving towards parity but note the difficulty of the shortage of candidates in certain areas.

Deep-Tech technologies

In the programme Aid Cervera for Technological Centres managed by the CDTI innovation, highlight the presence and participation in projects Deep-Tech. The aim of this aid is to strengthen the capacity of applied research of the technology centres in strategic technologies the CDTI has default as a priority, and which coincide with the Deep-Tech. Therefore, it is particularly interesting the existence of a very remarkable level of participation of women in the programme: from 36.3 per cent in the last call resolved (2021), exceeding by 8.5 points to 27.8 per cent of the overall average of CDTI Innovation by 2023.

Moreover, the presence of women has more weight to our efforts more closely linked to CDTI research activity, reality that corroborates the fact that the participants in ph.d. Cervera accounted for 40 per cent, above average 38.3%, by 2023.
