The CDTI Innovation launches convening 2024 Space technology program (PTE) with 70 billion in subsidies

  • The convening 2024 is focused on the momentum in the medium and long-term competitiveness of the spanish space industry by improving based on r & D technological capacities
  • It will be managed by the Centro para el Desarrollo tecnológico Industrial (CDTI), with the collaboration of the Spanish Space Agency in the evaluation of projects
  • PTE 2024 falls in the field of Aerospace LOSS and is funded from the mechanism for the recovery and resilience of the codicil to the recovery Plan, transformation and Resilience

The ministry of science, innovation and universities has just launched the convening 2024 technology program, a performance Space in the field of Aerospace L focused on boosting the competitiveness of the spanish aerospace industry as a key player in the coming challenges and opportunities of the sector through the development of technological capabilities based on r & D. Endowed with eur 70 million in subsidies from the recovery Mechanism and resilience of the codicil PRTR, these may be requested until 19 june 2024 and projects may receive up to 100% payment of aid following the adoption of a concession.

In particular, shall be financed projects of the following areas:

  • New Space - satellite constellations with one reservation: eur 30 million for r & D projects to develop new products, processes or services or radically improving production capacity in space systems, subsystems and payloads, with a potential demand in future the constellations of satellites, especially those of the strategic positioning and leadership in the spanish overall future satellite services.
  • Space technology maturation bottom-up: with a pool of 40 million euros for projects that promote progress in the level of maturity of space technologies, especially those with a high potential disruptive, which will generate a great recurrence of use and/or commercial or make provision for the development of cutting-edge scientific instrumentation for future space science missions. The budgetary reserve to this issue, 16 million will be reserved for small projects.

The r & D projects, which will have to start by 2024 and conclude before 31 december 2026, will have to be submitted by business consortia in two modes:

  • Major projects, with budgets eligible between 5 and 25 million, consortia of 2 to 6 companies with at least an sme and led by medium-sized or large companies, contracting out relevant research bodies of at least 15% of eligible budget.
  • Small projects, with eligible budgets between 1 and 4 M €, consortia of 2 to 6 companies with at least an sme and led by small and medium enterprises (the micropymes cannot act as leaders of the project), contracting out relevant research bodies of at least 10 per cent of eligible budget. The large companies can participate to a maximum of 35 per cent of eligible budget.

The minister of science, innovation and universities, Diana Morant, has stressed that “ the objective of this programme, which fits in with the LOSS aerospace, is to boost the competitiveness of the spanish aerospace industry as a key player in the coming challenges and opportunities of the sector through the development of technological capabilities ”. It has also stressed that “ the board of the government of Spain for the space creates new opportunities and industrial capacities, making more resilient and more strategic autonomy ”.

By 2025, the Aerospace L will mobilize more than 4.5 billion euros to advance science and innovation in the aerospace sector with the aim of responding to the sector's challenges as climate change, global security and the transition.
