The CDTI invests, together with EIT Innoenergy and Enagás, Basquevolt, business development of solid state array

The CDTI, through its programme, together with Innvierte EIT Innoenergy and Enagás — through its subsidiary Enagás Undertakes — has reached an agreement with the partners of BASQUEVOLT, S.A. to make a further contribution to the company, which is partner since 2022

The contribution is committed by CDTI 2.025 million euros

BASQUEVOLT, basque initiative solid state array, was launched in june 2002, including as founding shareholders to basque government, Iberdrola, CIE Automotive, Enagás, EIT and KICS InnoEnergy energiGUNE. In october this year the CDTI, through its programme Innvierte, joined as a shareholder of society.

BASQUEVOLT partners have reached a new funding agreement with the company with which It planned to implement its mass production within 5 years, based on an investment of more than eur 700 million, and that will be able to generate more than 800 direct jobs.

The first phase of BASQUEVOLT is located in the Parque tecnológico de Álava, in the building Marie Curie (Albert Einstein, 35), located a few metres from ICC energiGUNE. The centre, which will offer its technological backup BASQUEVOLT, based on more than 10 years of work of research in the area of solid state array, has a team of researchers led by Michel Armand - “ parent ” the electrolyte solid polimérico-. In this regard, the BASQUEVOLT technology is based on the use of a composite electrolyte patented by the basque centre.

The promoters of BASQUEVOLT are aware that lithium batteries with liquid electrolyte are reaching their state of maturity and that the next technological progress to free the true potential of the storage of energy, it must come from. The initial objectives of the company are the development of prototype cells and a pilot production line in 2027, with the ambition to begin production in 2029. The new technology will allow widely exceed energy density of the current storage solutions. Thanks to its technological base, BASQUEVOLT aspires to become the european leader in solid state array.

Specifically, BASQUEVOLT aims for the sustainable development - and of the best materials and battery cells that make possible the massive deployment of the electric transport, storage of energy, including the hybridization stationary systems – gas Hydrogen and portable devices.
