Aeronautical Technology Programme (PTA)
To provide support for strategic R&D projects in aeronautical technologies that contribute towards achieving some of the challenges identified in relation to:
- Technologies focused on emission reduction: zero-emission aircraft.
- UAVs (drones).
- New multi-role aircraft and systems.
Groups of companies in two categories:
- PTA Large Companies: groups of three to six partners, of which at least one must be an SME, led by a Large Company. At least two of the companies must be independent.
- PTA SMEs: groups of two to four partners, all of which are SMEs, led by a Medium-Sized Company. At least two of the companies must be independent.
Groups of companies that can carry out cooperative projects and that meet the size and composition requirements, according to the project submitted to PTA Large Companies or PTA SMEs. The resulting group will not have a legal personality, so one of the participants will act as the coordinator or representative of the group before the CDTI. The representative will be paid the grant and is responsible for its distribution among the group members. Group relationships must be formally recorded by a consortium agreement which sets out the rights and obligations of the participants.

€40,000,000
€7,500,000 of this budget will be reserved for PTA SME projects. If, following evaluation, the reserve is not exhausted, the difference will be used to support PTA Large Company projects.
Grant up to the maximum intensity limits: 65% for large enterprises, 75% for medium enterprises and 80% for small enterprises.
For each project and beneficiary, the aid intensity limit will be decided based on the weight of each type of activity (industrial research or experimental development) and by the maximum intensity applicable in each case.
The amount of aid may not exceed the thresholds established in Article 4 of EU Regulation 651/2014 of 17 June 2014.
Multi-annual projects developed in any Spanish region.
PTA Large Companies:
- Minimum eligible budget of €5,000,000 and maximum of €12,000,000.
- Minimum eligible budget of €500,000 for large and medium-sized companies; €250,000 for small companies.
- Duration: two to four years, starting in 2021.
PTA SMEs:
- Minimum eligible budget of €2,500,000 and maximum of €5,000,000.
- Minimum eligible budget per company of €200,000.
- Duration: two to three years, starting in 2021.
No participant may be responsible for more than 60% of the eligible project budget.
These grants are included in the actions and investments covered by the National Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, financed by the EU Recovery and Resilience Facility.
Actions that directly or indirectly cause significant harm to the environment (DNSH principle), in accordance with Article 17 of EU Regulation 2020/852 of the European Parliament and the Council on 18 June 2020 (Taxonomy Regulation), or that are aimed at increasing the efficiency of fossil fuels, are not eligible for support.

The following direct implementation costs are eligible: staff; instruments and inventory materials; contracted research; technical know-how and patents acquired at market price; overhead costs and additional operating expenses directly deriving from the project; and the cost of the auditor's report.

During its implementation period, the aid granted under this call for applications cannot be combined with any other public aid at the European, national or regional level with the same objectives and purpose.

Having become aware of a material error in the Resolution by the CDTI Chairmanship of 22 December 2021, in accordance with the provisions of Article 109.2 of Law 39/2015 of 1 October on the Common Administrative Procedure for Public Bodies, a correction was hereby made through a resolution on 31 May 2022.
Having detected errors in the annex to the aforementioned correction, these are hereby corrected based on the same regulation.
