This event, inaugurated by Felipe de la Morena, ambassador of spain in thailand and Suchada Thaensap, secretary of the Minister of higher education, science, research and Innovation (MHESI), has benefited from the collaboration of the Ministry of the unit for the management of programmes for competitiveness (PMUC), Chulalongkorn university of thailand and the ICC biomaGUNE of Spain.

By the CDTI innovation has participated Carlos de la Cruz, Director of Technology and internationalisation.

Development of the health sector in thailand

Many emerging economies such as thailand have ambitious plans for research and development (r & D) in the area of nanotechnology. Her government needed to balance the needs of health in the short-term investment in technology in the long term. However, while this emerging economy has the permanent responsibility to strengthen its health system and provide greater access to medicine, nanotechnology could, in the long term, save lives in making more effective diagnosis and treatments.

The health sector in Thailand, which provides universal coverage of medicines, has experienced an unprecedented development in recent years. But a few data, current spending about 6.6 per cent of gdp, and it is expected that this sector will generate revenues of 47900 million USD in 2026.

The rise of medical tourism and the good relationship calidad-precio the services it offers converted into Thailand in one of the most competitive.


Technology cooperation

During this jornada informativa has been discussed bilateral funding scheme (TLSIP – An Innovative Programme of thailand and Spain) implemented jointly by the CDTI innovation, in spain, and the management Unit of the programme for competitiveness (PMUC) of Thailand. This programme promotes and funds cooperation on r & D driven by innovation among spanish companies and thai companies and other organizations also undertake R & D.

The event has been framed as a bilateral technology cooperation between the CDTI PMU-C, innovation and the CDTI counterpart agency, with similar functions and acting as financing member agency of r + D + i in thailand.The two agencies undertake to encourage and promote cooperation through actions that include identification of innovative companies in each country, assistance to companies to the development of technology partnerships and fostering the development of knowledge on health systems research, technology and innovation.


Delegation of spain

In addition, a spanish delegation composed of 11 entities: BioKeralty biomaGUNE; ICC; ECOSYSTEMS; Curapath; DIVERSE; IMDEA Nanoscience; INMA-CSIC/IBER-BBN; Nanoligent SL; NANOMED-Plataforma Española de Nanomedicina; NANOMOL TECHNOLOGIES and Vall d ’ Hebron Research Institute, have presented their technological capabilities in the area of nanomedicina and submitted their initiatives for cooperation and partnership with Thailand.

During the holding of this event, were also organized meetings to spanish companies that are members of the delegation, as well as technical visits to thai entities.

It is noteworthy that the previous days, 9 and 10 july, an international conference has been held in nanotech for the health and welfare organized by the Chulalongkorn university, the icc biomaGUNE and support of the eu delegation in Bangkok.

CDTI Innovation
