Mónica Partridges, technical director and registers of Ceres Biotics Tech: “ The aid of CDTI Innovation and the FEDER have enabled us to reach a very competitive in the market ”
Ceres Biotics Tech has been consolidated as one of spanish biotechnology smes more innovative in the development of micro-organisms beneficial for agriculture. Booming, their probiotics are marketed in over 50 countries and have been applied on four continents
Mónica Partridges, technical director and records and one of the founding members of the company, acknowledged the continued support that since its inception had received from theCDTI Innovationfor the development of its most innovative projects: “ The germ of Ceres arose in 2010 to see that 80% of CO2 emissions from extensive came from the manufacture, transport and implementation of nitrogen fertiliser. The development of micro-organisms fasteners atmospheric nitrogen in these crops would reduce those emissions. Let Us Remember that 78 per cent of the air we breathe is nitrogen and these micro-organisms are able to fix it and to make it available to the crops. In Addition, the small number of european companies being developed and manufactured fertilizer microorganisms was in itself a chance. For these reasons,Ceres Bioticsspecializes in isolation, selection and manufacture of beneficial microorganisms treble nitrogen-fixing, and particularly on micro-organisms endófitos, i.e. those that are located in "agricultural plants.

"In 2017 are presenting a Neotec to projectCDTI Innovationand as a company incorporated, we have not ceased to work with this body that has certainly been critical both at our stage of creation and development and expansion that we are experiencing ”.
“ in a modern and sustainable agriculture, and this is very much aligned with that first idea of reducing the carbon footprint. On the other hand, we should not forget that the soil is the living natural resource more valuable to us. The plants took millions of years to come to colonize the land and they got through micro-organisms that were about 3 billion years ago. These micro-organisms and helped to create a proper and stable environment for such colonization. However, the intensification of agriculture has steadily eroded physical and microbiológicamente our agricultural soils to the need to produce increasingly to feed a growing population. For example, by 2050 agricultural production must grow by 60 per cent worldwide and nearly 100 per cent in developing countries, only to meet the demand for food. This environmental imbalance is resulting in a depletion of soils that it is necessary to reverse towards sustainability. Aware of this reality, europe has designed a road map so that by 2030, 50% of farmland is ecological ”.
Biotechnology applied to agriculture
“ progress towards a global sustainable agricultural system is to provide farmers with new tools, technologies and expertise to produce high-quality, safe and affordable, preserving its main appeal, the soil. To that end, our constant challenge is to offer innovative biotechnological tools to maintain the productivity and quality of crops and help to regenerate and increase their long-term fertility ".
"in particular, are our speciality probiotics (micro-organisms beneficial) endófitos with properties that promote the fertilizer plant growth. It should be noted that we cover all the full course of development of products made of probiotics for use in agriculture. That is, cut off the strains of micro-organisms of interest, select the best PGP profile (Plant Growth Promotion) and agronomic. we have scaled, we designed the formulations, we manufacture products and we take care of your distribution in the market. Put in the market. we either directly or through our industrial customers, many large companies very relevant market for agricultural inputs.

Commitment to technology
In its continued commitment to innovation, in the past seven yearsCeres Biotics Techhas invested heavily in r & D to the development of projects and products, as in the installation and expansion of their infrastructures. Its facilities in San Fernando de Henares (Madrid) represent an example of vanguard fermentation vats for biotech Last generation, which allow the monitoring and control of the production process in real time.
“ furthermore, the innovative drying technology allows us to develop formulations in strong and very high concentration in comparison with other products: 1 gram of our products has up to 100 million units formuladoras of colonies of microorganisms. Thanks to this drying technology we were able to reduce the dose of application to crops and achieve expiration dates of up to 24 months which is crucial to the market, especially when we talk about export ”.
“ we also have a modern microbiology laboratory equipped with all the necessary equipment for the one hand, attend bioproduction plant with the work of quality control and maintenance of probióticas strains on the one hand and lead our lines of development and research ”.
“ this is where we select the strains of micro-organisms more efficient when it comes to setting biological solubilización, atmospheric nitrogen and phosphorous mineralization, mobilization of Potassium and other micronutrients or as regards capacity bioestimulante (production of fitohormonas and ACC desaminasa). Currently, we have a collection of more than 500 strains, more than 90 per cent endófitas with interesting properties promoters of the plant growth and can contribute to more sustainable agriculture in many crops ”.

Aid from the CDTI Innovation
Over the past five years Ceres Biotics Tech has developed three projects with the help ofCDTI Innovationto benefit from innovative sinerbioticos formulated based on micro-organisms and prebiotics endófitos; products based on micro-organisms endófitos treble nitrogen-fixing crops for extensive and in other products based on micro-organisms endófitos able microbioma modulate the plant.
“ the aid that we have received from theCDTI InnovationandERDF funds of the eu, as well as the accompanying technical technical evaluators of CDTI have been very important to reach the current competitive position in both the domestic market and many international markets. In Europe we export to many countries, and we can do so in all countries, having achieved recently register our flagship product Nutribio N ® as Bioestimulante microbial action plants with NUE-N (Nutrient Use Effiency Nitrogen) in the new regulation EU 2019/1009. Extracommunity level, we have started to export and/or register in countries in the middle East, africa, Asia, Australia, North America and Latin america ”.
Corporate strategy
“ in the coming years, ensures Mónica Pérdices, we want to be a reference in the development and formulation of probiotics endófitos agrobiotecnológico potential in biofertilizacion and bioestimulacion and therefore, we have a great team of highly skilled professionals and doctors from different disciplines that bring great added value to this endeavour. Without them, it had not been possible to get the stamp Innovative SMES issued by the ministry of science, innovation and universities or achieve the important growth that we are taking in and out of our borders ”.
